Company Overview:
For over 120-years Mohawk has been a trusted name in carpets. Today Mohawk is the leading producer and distributor of flooring worldwide. All major flooring categories, carpet, rugs, hardwood, laminate, ceramic tile, and vinyl flooring can be purchased at an authorized Mohawk dealer for residential or commercial application. The company operates under four divisions with its own products, features, and brand names.
Problems:
- The majority of Mohawk retailers were not advertising,
therefore diluting the Mohawk brand identity.
- Annual printing costs of marketing kit catalogs were
outrageous.
- By the time the kits were printed and distributed
they were already becoming out-of-date.
- Mohawk needed an easier, faster and less expensive
way to distribute their marketing materials and needed
to offer a simpler way for their retailers to use the
marketing materials.
Implications:
- Information in the catalog is sensitive and needed
to be protected from competitors.
- Multiple points of contact could lead to confusion
during the production and development of the catalog
application.
Solutions:
- The data is now imported from their Customer Service
Oracle Database, and the images are imported from their
proprietary database of images each night via batch
files.
- All users must log in to access the e-Catalog information.
- Each user has a specific permission set, giving certain
users access to only certain areas.
- All of the import routines were implemented on their
live server due to security restrictions.
